Moore Family Reunion

We had our first Moore family reunion this weekend...
My feelings, in preparation for this event, were quite mixed. On one hand, I think it's really important to know your relatives and to understand where you come from. On the other hand, in our particular situation, it's always a bit awkward as the one thing that ties us together is quite obviously missing. My dad died with his three brothers...so you can imagine that there is a clear lack of balance in our get togethers. Beyond that, I've always found it even more uncomfortable because I am the only one that was born after they all died. It's really always been like a story to me...

Anyway- without diving into to all of that. We had the reunion, and it was surprisingly comfortable and fun. The food was amazing and horrible for you- everything we made was in tribute to my grandmother, GayNell Moore. We used to love going to visit her, not only because she was amazing and fun and LOVED to stir the pot and cause trouble, but also because we would have honey buns for breakfast, fried okra and chicken planks for lunch, and chicken spaghetti and mini pecan pies for dinner. She was the best- and we talked about her all weekend!

You might not believe it, but I come from one of the most Southern families I've ever come into contact with. Not country. Southern. All weekend I heard things like: "Be NAAAAACE." and "Now YAWWWLLL, stop it." It was so funny.

So, it was a good weekend and here are some pictures that my cousin Tina scanned for us.
